Today is Juneteenth, a reminder that we can’t assume our rights will protect us — we must fight to protect our rights.
This is a key lesson from Black history and the fight for racial justice in the United States.
We will lose, we will make progress, we will lose, we will make progress — and we always keep going. That’s why it’s called a movement.

99 years after the day Juneteenth commemorates, three Black and Jewish civil rights activists — Andrew Goodman, James Chaney, and Michael Schwerner — were murdered by the KKK and local police in Mississippi for protecting Black voting rights.
Their yahrzeit is this Sunday, June 21st. You're invited to join us to make their memories a blessing and launch 2026 election protection work on Wednesday, June 24th.
Special guests include civil rights activists Heather Booth and David Goodman, Andrew Goodman’s brother.
RSVP for the national Jewish election protection call this Wednesday, June 24, at 7pm ET.
With special guests:
Thank you for joining us to celebrate Juneteenth and apply its lessons to our work today. Bend the Arc’s commitment to Black liberation means we learn from our history and keep up the fight for freedom and safety for all of us.
