We predicted it: Trump's dangerous antisemitism executive order

January 31, 2025

Last week, we said it wouldn’t be long before Trump did something that looked like it was good for Jews — but really threatened all of our safety.

It came on Wednesday, when Trump signed an executive order to address antisemitism…by deporting activists and attacking our rights to free speech.1

At Bend the Arc, we jumped in to immediately call his order what it is: a cynical Republican tactic that uses Jewish fear and pain to justify targeting already vulnerable people, like immigrants, Muslim and Arab Americans, trans people, and others.

Our message spread, getting covered in the HuffPost, Haaretz, and Slate, and our explainer video on Smokescreen Antisemitism has been viewed over 20,000 times.

Our team is ready to keep rapidly responding to protect our freedoms and our communities. With more resources, we can have an even bigger impact.

Can you chip in with $10, $18, or any other amount to help us keep fighting Trump's fascism?

Trump’s executive order claims to target "antisemites.” But functionally, it’s an attempt to silence and persecute his critics and enact his xenophobic agenda, disguised as something that helps Jews.

As our CEO Jamie Beran shared this week in a press release, policies that police free speech and target other minority communities have never, and will never, keep Jewish people safe.

Trump and his allies are NOT defenders of Jews — we are. And we will not be used to help pass his dangerous agenda.

Our work to fight fascism and protect all of us requires resources, and winning will take all of us. Can you chip with a gift to help fund this fight?
