Join next week’s national Jewish call with T’ruah, Southern Poverty Law Center, Indivisible, and more. RSVP here for "We Speak for Ourselves: A Jewish Call to End Trump's Deportation Agenda" on Tuesday, Mar 25, at 7pm ET. |
Last week, Bend the Arc was one of the first Jewish organizations to challenge the Trump administration’s abduction of Mahmoud Khalil and what it means for Jewish safety — with press coverage in Haaretz, CBS News, JTA, Newsweek, Times of Israel, and the New Republic.
We launched a petition from American Jews demanding Mahmoud Khalil’s release and rejecting Trump’s dangerous use of antisemitism to dismantle our democracy and shred the liberties of all Americans. Nearly 5,000 Jews and allies signed, and we delivered it to Khalil's legal team with our solidarity and support.
Our CEO Jamie Beran’s speech at a press conference for Mahmoud Khalil spread widely in the news and social media, with hundreds of thousands of views — showing how important it is for Jews to be speaking out right now. Check out the video of Jamie’s speech here.
Jamie then published an op-ed in Haaretz — “Smokescreen Antisemitism”: How the Trump-fueled Arrest of Mahmoud Khalil Endangers Jews” — to help a broader Jewish audience understand Trump’s use of antisemitism to enact his fascist agenda.
Bend the Arc also co-led a Jewish organizational sign-on letter to DHS Secretary Kristi Noem, which was the subject of a HuffPost article, shining a light on the united Jewish American response against Khalil's abduction.
Our champions in Congress — Representatives Jayapal, Raskin, and Scanlon — organized a Dear Colleague letter, with our endorsement, from more than 100 Representatives to confront Secretary Noem and Secretary of State Rubio about the First Amendment implications of Khalil's detention, which Politico covered here.
Finally, we are co-hosting a national call next week about Jewish safety and the attacks on our democracy. Join Jewish leaders from across the country to understand Trump's strategy of using antisemitism to advance authoritarianism, build a new story of Jewish safety, and take action together to stop Trump’s dangerous deportation machine.
