Last week House Republicans passed their budget bill — a plan to funnel billions of our dollars away from health care and education and into detention centers and tax breaks for the wealthiest.1
While this news is heavy, I want to make sure you see the win in all of this: no House Democrats voted in support of the budget. That was never a given — especially when Democrats have been voting Yes on horrendous Republican bills. It took consistent action from across our movement to make this unified opposition happen.
What’s next? The fight isn’t over. Now the budget bill goes to the Senate, then back to the House again.
That’s why Bend the Arc is organizing a national Jewish Week of Advocacy in June to pressure every member of Congress, and especially Democrats, to block this cruel GOP budget bill.
We need your help to make this Jewish Week of Advocacy a national success. Here’s what your gift today will help make possible:
🚨 $10 supports an action alert to tens of thousands of Jews and allies
📧 $18 helps drive 100 constituent emails to Congress
🪧 $36 prints bold signs that share our moral message
💪 $72 helps plan meetings with dozens of Congressional offices
📣 $118 trains 5 Bend the Arc volunteers on how to lobby their electeds
Or, start a monthly gift to power our Jewish resistance for the long haul
Our pressure is working and the opposition to this budget bill is mounting. Headlines from this weekend include: “Republican Senators rebuke ‘immoral’ Trump bill — ‘emperor has no clothes’” and “America’s Senate plans big changes for the House’s spending bill.”2,3
We’re organizing the national Jewish Week of Advocacy to turn out our movement of Jews and allies in this critical moment. Together, we’ll reject Trump and MAGA’s cruel policies and help sink this budget bill.
Your gift will bring our message directly to more lawmakers. Donate here today.
In solidarity,
Hannah Klein
